Privacy Policy — Web Sentinel

1) What Web Sentinel does

Web Sentinel is a Chrome extension that analyzes the currently active website and displays a risk score (0–100) with a label (Safe, Suspicious, or High Risk) based on technical indicators commonly associated with phishing and deceptive websites.

2) Data we access

• Current tab URL: Read locally when you click Check. Only the origin is sent to the API.

The extension uses Chrome permissions such as activeTab only to access the URL of the tab you are currently viewing when you interact with the extension.

3) Data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment details, or form inputs.
• We do not record browsing history across tabs.
• We do not track you for advertising or analytics.

4) How data is used

The current site origin is used only to compute the risk score and display reasons. Path and query never leave the device. It is not used for profiling, marketing, or advertising.

5) Data storage and sharing

• API lookup: The hostname is sent to the Web Sentinel API, which may query a WHOIS/RDAP service and the site’s certificate.
• No selling: We do not sell user data.
• No ads: The popup does not load Google Fonts or advertising scripts.

If you store local settings (for example, user preferences), they remain on your device unless you explicitly enable a sync feature provided by Chrome.

6) User control

Web Sentinel runs when you open or interact with the extension. You can remove the extension at any time from Chrome’s Extensions page to stop all functionality.

7) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in functionality or compliance requirements. Updates will be posted on this page.
