Privacy Policy — Web Sentinel

Last updated: January 16, 2026

Summary: Web Sentinel does not collect, sell, or share personal data. It only analyzes the website you choose to check and shows a risk score with reasons.

1) What Web Sentinel does

Web Sentinel is a Chrome extension that analyzes the currently active website and displays a risk score (0–100) with a label (Safe, Suspicious, or High Risk) based on technical indicators commonly associated with phishing and deceptive websites.

2) Data we access

The extension uses Chrome permissions such as activeTab only to access the URL of the tab you are currently viewing when you interact with the extension.

3) Data we do NOT collect

4) How data is used

The current website URL is used only to compute the risk score and display the result with explanations. It is not used for profiling, marketing, or targeted advertising.

5) Data storage and sharing

If you store local settings (for example, user preferences), they remain on your device unless you explicitly enable a sync feature provided by Chrome.

6) User control

Web Sentinel runs when you open or interact with the extension. You can remove the extension at any time from Chrome’s Extensions page to stop all functionality.

7) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in functionality or compliance requirements. Updates will be posted on this page.
